A los 18 capítulos o lecciones del Volumen I, se añaden ahora otros 18, también agrupados en otras cinco partes, dedicados, en su conjunto, al estudio de la reactividad de los hidrocarburos de todos los tipos y a la de sus derivados halogenados. Después de un primer capítulo, en el que se hace un estudio general de las propiedades físicas de los compuestos orgánicos, se continúa con el estudio de todos y cada uno de los distintos tipos de hidrocarburos, lo que permite no sólo conocer las características de todas las estructuras que constituyen el esqueleto fundamental de todos los compuestos orgánicos sino también el tratamiento general de los principales tipos de reacciones en las que intervienen
