Summary, etc.	La publicación que hoy ponemos a disposición de la colectividad puneña y del país en general, creemos constituye una contribución al desarrollo de la agricultura del altiplano de puno y del medio andino en general, ya que se trata de un conjunto de investigaciones realizadas por el proyecto PIWA en torno a l maca, uno de los cultivos andinos de mayor aporte a la alimentación de los antiguos peruanos, tanto es así que se le llamo "el pan de los indios" durante la colonia española, y que hasta el año 1997 solo se cultivaba en los andes centrales del Perú.
