| Summary, etc. | "Nos encontramos en un templo singular; podría decirse que la nave es el campus universitario; el retablo el edificio central de la universidad; allá la maquinaria que levanta nuevos edificios…y arriba el cielo de Piura". <br/><br/>Así casi comenzaba, con dos cambios, la celebre homilía del fundador de esta Universidad, el Beato Josemaría, un grandísimo humanista, un 8 de octubre de 1967 en Pamplona. Sólo he sustituido los vocablos Biblioteca por "edificio central" y "Navarra" por Piura. <br/><br/>Toda esa homilía es un auténtico canto humanista, pero su título resume como nada lo que deben ser las humanidades: amar al mundo apasionadamente. En ese mundo se incluye a todas las criaturas, pero especialmente el hombre, como ser libre e intelectual y en ese amar apasionadamente la actitud del humanista, del cristiano, que en el fondo son lo mismo. Ojalá sepa trasmitirlo en esta conferencia. <br/><br/>Hace ahora unos quinientos años un grupo de intelectuales, artistas y universitarios crearon unos de los movimientos más radicalmente innovadores de la historia de la humanidad. <br/><br/>De ella -De la Humanidad- tomaron las ideas y el nombre. Por eso desde entonces son conocidos como "los humanistas" y su movimiento como "el Humanismo". Nunca se dio tanta importancia a la cultura ni al hombre. Su ideal fue tan lejos que no se paró hasta configurar al hombre ideal, completo: culto, elegante, virtuoso, amante de los demás y de Dios. De hecho, es el único movimiento intelectual moderno que cuenta con santos en los altares: Santo Tomás Moro y el Beato Fra Angélico, declarados patronos respectivamente de los políticos y los artistas por Juan Pablo II. Fue allí en la Italia del cuatroccentto y del cinquaccentto, donde nacieron las humanidades en su concepción actual. <br/> |
