Summary, etc.	<br/><br/><br/><br/>Este libro contiene el informe del economista argentino Raúl Prebisch, como Secretario General, a la Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre Comercio y Desarrollo (Ginebra, marzo a junio de 1964). La expectación que ha despertado en el mundo, particularmente en la América Latina, se debe a que es un texto que define la posición de un grupo de países en vías de desarrollo ante el influjo que en nuestra época mantienen los intercambios de mercancías entre los pueblos de los más diversos regímenes de gobierno. De esa "revolución comercial" que ahora toma inusitado vigor dependerá, en buena parte, el mejoramiento de la organización económica futura de la totalidad de las regiones y, a la vez, la convivencia y la paz entre las naciones. "Sólo mediante la cooperación entre todos los países -escribe U Thant, Secretario General de la ONU-, independientemente de sus sistemas políticos y sociales, podrá asegurarse la paz mundial; y sólo mediante esa cooperación podrá darse suficiente impetu a la lucha de la humanidad por una vida mejor y más completa."<br/>
