El autor, partiendo de su propia experiencia, ayuda a comprender con facilidad esta patología abarcándola desde un punto de vista médico, dietético, social pero sobretodo personal (experiencias narradas en primera persona). La intolerancia a la lactosa es la incapacidad de nuestro organismo para digerir la lactosa, el azúcar predominante en la leche. Esta intolerancia es debida a la baja cantidad de lactasa en el intestino delgado. Los síntomas típicos de la intolerancia a la lactosa son las nauseas, flatulencia, diarrea o dolor abdominal, entre otros, dependiendo de los diferentes niveles de intolerancia
