Summary, etc.	Como un gran número de países de América, Europa y Asia, Colombia está ubicada en una zona altamente vulnerable a los sismos. Por ello es imperante que la construcción de edificaciones y obras civiles de la actualidad pueda adaptarse y corregirse para hacer frente a los terremotos, reduciendo en lo posible las catástrofes que éstos ocasionan. Igualmente, debe evitarse que se siga diseñando y construyendo de espaldas a la conciencia sísmica. La publicación busca solucionar la necesidad planteada, brindando herramientas a ingenieros y arquitectos para que conozcan de manera práctica los conceptos básicos de la ingeniería sísmica y la dinámica estructural, y así entender con mayor claridad el comportamiento de las estructuras de concreto frente a los terremotos.
