Esta es la pregunta de fondo que guía el discurso del presente libro, dedicado a la operación mental de Formular hipótesis. La investigación científica, como sostiene Dario Antiseri está constituida por la identificación de problemas, la formulación de hipótesis y un control relativo sobre la base de las consecuencias que se puedan observar de forma directa. Por tanto, formular hipótesis es un importante acto creativo, cuya práctica en los distintos niveles educativos, favorece en los alumnos una relación dinámica con el conocimiento. El presente volumen propone un proceso de reflexión teórica, y aplicada a las condiciones didácticas, que permiten hacer de dicha operación mental una vía practicable y significativa dentro del marco escolar. Presenta un análisis de los modelos que subrayan la relevancia que tiene la formulación de hipótesis en el ámbito escolar, así como el empleo de importantes y detalladas técnicas en una serie de proyectos didácticos que se han llevado a cabo en distintas áreas de conocimiento, con alumnos de edades diversas.
